Chinese Execute More Christians
A Chinese court has secretly executed the leader of a fringe underground Christian sect as well as 11 followers who were convicted of murdering members of a rival gang.
The court in the city of Shuangyashan carried out the executions of Xu Shuangfu along with Li Maoxing and Wang Jun, two leading members of his Three Grades of Servants group, last week.
Nine other group members have been executed in recent weeks according to the US based Christian Aid Association. All were convicted of involvement in the murders of 20 followers of the rival Eastern Lightning cult. Xu and Li claimed they confessed after being tortured by the police.
Chinas communist leadership has called for a clampdown on Christian groups that refuse to affiliate with approved religious bodies.
