1. From the National Director

Dear Praying Friend,

“I will sing of the LORD's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.” Psalm 89:1 (NIV)

God’s faithful Word is liberating people throughout the world. Generations are coming into a relationship with Jesus Christ. They are impacted by the message of His love. Will you continue to pray for these new Christians? Please also pray that every copy of God’s Word that is placed and every person that is trained will develop faithful disciples.

Every blessing,

John Savage

2. Sri Lanka – “Uphold our country to the Lord”

“Heavy air attacks and intense shelling is going on in some parts of the country,” says Bible Networks Ministry Coordinator for Sri Lanka of his war-torn nation last month. “The death toll has increased to a high proportion, especially in the northeast and border villages. There are murders taking place as well.”

An on-going civil war between the Sri Lankan army and Tamil Tiger separatists on the northern end of this Indian Ocean island has caused more than 1,500 deaths since December 2005, when a 2002 cease fire was interrupted by violence. Hundreds of thousands of people have also been displaced. Norway’s Peace Envoy Jon Hannsen Bauer is attempting mediation talks, hoping to resolve a two-decade conflict that has killed more than 65,000 Sri Lankans.

Last year Bible Network placed 39,000 Scriptures and trained 2,131 people to lead evangelistic and discipleship Bible studies. Despite the continual unrest, this ministry will continue the life-changing work.

ACTION PLAN:

Pray: “Please uphold our country to the Lord,” says our Ministry Coordinator for Sri Lanka. “It’s difficult for people to move freely in the evenings in most parts of the country. Pray for the safety of the people involved in our ministry.”

3. Mexico – Over 3000 churches planted in 11 years

About 600 Bible Network-trained Mexican Church Planters recently gathered in Mexico City for a congress to discuss what God has done through their ministries. “I was encouraged by the presence of those who travelled long distances to attend,” says our National Director of Ministry for Mexico. “Some Church Planters travelled for as many as 15 hours to get there.”

The assembly brought together Church Planters who have been trained through the Bible Networks church planting program over the last 11 years. It built on the initiatives of the first congress held in 2004 and included representatives from 40 indigenous people groups. Since 1995, these dedicated Christians have planted more than 3,000 churches throughout Mexico.

While the event celebrated God’s work through their ministries, it was also intended to inform and encourage the church leaders to continue the vision of evangelising, discipling and establishing new churches in every community in Mexico.

“I admire what is being done from the smallest camp to the great cities and in each tongue,” said Eliud, who attended the event. “There is the possibility and resource to reach the one who is imprisoned and the free one; the child and the old man. There are no borders that we cannot get into.”

Our National Director for Mexico praised the strong content of the congress’ workshops and the enthusiastic response of those who attended. “As the leaders left the congress, they were so full of excitement,” says the National Director. “Seeing this was a real encouragement to me. We expect to see hundreds of new churches planted in the next year as a result of God’s work through this event.”

ACTION PLAN:

· Pray that Church Planters will receive courage from God to plant new churches across Latin America. Praise God for faithful workers like Eluid. Pray that as people study God’s Word their lives will be filled with hope.
