Here is a very nice story that I thought you might like to read.

Changed lives in Latin America—a little girl finally knows her loving Father

Rejected from birth
Little Maria was always depressed growing up in Latin America. Now 12 years old, she understands the reasons for her sadness. Her home was a battleground between her parents. Her father ignored her very existence. She felt unwanted and completely rejected.

"My mom said that my dad didn't want me because I was a girl and not the boy he hoped for. When I heard this, it hurt so much that I felt like I wanted to die."

A Bible League-trained worker hosted a Bible study at Maria's cousin's home and she was invited to learn about Jesus. "I asked my dad if I could go and he said fine, as long as he didn't see me at home—because he didn't want me around," says Maria. "I went to the study, but I was always sad."

Maria is taught God’s love
As Maria continued to study the Bible with other children, she realized that God was aware of her secret pain. Slowly the words of the Bible began to change her from the inside out.

"I found out that Jesus loved me," Maria said. "That He was interested in me. I accepted Christ as my Savior and now I have a relationship with God.

She learns to forgive
"I have forgiven my dad and I no longer have anger toward him. I ask God to change him," she says. "Jesus has already heard me, because my dad is now studying the Bible with the adult group. I finished more Bible League Bible studies with my five friends and we are all getting along well. Best of all, we want to continue learning about Jesus."

God's Word in Isaiah 61:3 promises that He can make beauty out of ashes as Maria's story confirms. Thank God for the transforming power of His Word as it takes effect throughout Latin America.
